I am running for the 1-year term vacated by a board member’s resignation. I want this lake to continue being our little paradise. Let's focus on streamlining the board's responsibilities to financial matters focused on the dam, lake, and common area management (with the top priority being the dam). This will help maintain the peaceful environment that drew us to this community in the first place. We do not require all the committees, surveys, demands for impeachment, endowment money, and even an additional code of ethics (which includes a designated committee to supervise the board we voted in). For a non-profit with a limited budget, this has led to needless turmoil in our community. Let's not over-govern. Most of us came here to relax and enjoy the lake, and not to change it into what we moved here to avoid.

Hello. My name is Ashok Kara. Most of you know me as the ‘WALKING GUY.” As many of you know, I have been walking the roads around our lake for decades. People have been very kind. People reaching out to a vulnerable stranger and caring for his safety expresses regard through the simple acts of politeness and courtesy. It’s easy to overlook moments of this nature, moments winnowed over millennia, expressive of the growing covenant between mankind. This covenant is at the foundation of our civility. I have come to radically feel respect for the Integrity of all creatures large and small.
But time happens to us all. So, I decided to undertake one final slog. It is now nearly 3 years old, to bring Ethical Principles to our community. Human nature is fallible. Hence, it is all too easy to forget that we are all heirs to the covenant. Thus, the covenant regarding our Bylaws is between all of us members of WLIA, and so too must our Ethical Principles be a covenant between us all. It is to make this real that I am seeking your for position as director.

Dear Membership:
Friends and neighbors, my short tenure is coming to an end. Recalling that I came to this position via the passing of a good man, I’ll take a sec to honor him by stating unequivocally what a great job he had done to get us to the right person who brought us to the right contractor to finally have fixed a long-standing nuisance. Thanks Jon Anderson, we salute you! That said, I would be honored and delighted if you would allow me to serve a full term.. But first, a little about myself. Met and married my second wife, Terese, here on the lake. Found this great property, bought in 2012, retired from the City of Memphis in 2014, moved from Memphis in 2016. Terese and I echo the same sentiment you hear from many. We found our “little piece of paradise” and expect to live out our lives here. This means we’re committed to preserving the lifestyle that attracted us here. To that end, I’m proud to report its’s been a momentous year; we’ve fixed the leak at the spillway (99%); discreetly increased revenue; held the line on budget; generally left the place in pretty good shape! It has been a good year overall, not just because every day above ground is a good one, but because, as a Board I’m proud of our accomplishments and seek to serve a full 3 year term to continue the good work. Thanks in advance, ladies and gentlemen.
Sincerely
Mark Kelley

Woodland Lake members, friends, and neighbors, my name is Roland Harris, and though I need little introduction to many of you, I would like to take this opportunity to present myself as a candidate for the WLIA Board of Directors. My current three-year term on the WLIA Board of Directors ends in June, and at the will and pleasure of the members, I am willing and would be deeply honored to serve one last term as a member of our Association's Board of Directors.
My wife Shirley and I have made our home at Woodland Lake Lot 94 since 2004. We immediately realized we had found the most wonderful and unique community to make our home and will always treasure the great friends and neighbors we have encountered along the way. Since coming to Woodland Lake, Shirley and I have been engaged in support of our association in various ways and fully intend to continue to assist in any way possible. I previously served 1 term on the board not long after moving to Woodland Lake and during the current '23 – '24 fiscal year have served as president of our board of directors. I am deeply grateful for the trust and support you have shown me in these roles. I have always tried to make decisions and assist in the management of our limited resources in the best interest of all members of Woodland Lake Improvement Association and pledge to continue to do so. I look forward to seeing each of you at the annual meeting on June 1st and humbly solicit your support.
Sincerely,
Roland M. Harris
My name is Shad Sims, and I'm running for the WLIA Board of Directors this year. My wife Laura and
I have thoroughly enjoyed our 3+ years at the lake and getting to know so many of our neighbors. We
knew when we moved here that we would love being on the water and in a more rural environment,
and the people have been a wonderful bonus. As such, now that we have made this our home, I
want to help preserve and protect this community. I have considerable experience in leadership,
boards, and corporate committees, and a proven professional track record of getting results. I
believe these attributes will make me a valuable asset to the board if elected. For everyone
interested, I've included a brief list that highlights some of my personal and professional experience
and involvements. Thanks in advance for your consideration ...
